Yelm is a town of horse properties, hobby farms, and tight-knit families spread across the wide-open prairie east of Olympia. From the historic downtown along Yelm Avenue, out to the homes lining the Nisqually River and the rolling pasture-land toward Roy, this is country living at its best — and Yelm dogs reflect that. They're working dogs, ranch dogs, hunting companions, and rough-and-tumble family pets. They're not the kind of dogs that do well in a sterile, concrete-floor kennel.
That's why so many Yelm dog owners drive the 40 minutes west on SR-507 to bring their dogs to EdelHaus. Our 15-acre property feels familiar to a Yelm dog — open land, fresh air, room to move. And our family-run setup means your German Shepherd or Lab gets the kind of one-on-one attention that's impossible to find at the big boarding chains closer to town. We've boarded everything from working K9s to senior farm dogs to high-drive sport dogs from the Yelm and JBLM area, and we've been doing it for over 30 years.
The route from Yelm winds through Rainier, Tenino, and the rural prairie roads of southern Thurston County before dropping you at our gate. Most people tell us it's one of the more relaxing parts of their trip. And once you're here, you're handing your dog to the same family that has been running this resort for three decades — not a rotating crew of part-time staff.
